Introduction

This is a self-directed project. In this project, I created a brand of Tibetan local jewelry called "Shi". I designed three kinds of jewelry boxes with traditional Tibetan elements. Each one features corresponding color and pattern. Through the branding design for Tibet, I hope to enhance people's attention on Tibetan minority nationality, being beneficial for social integration.

Process work

I have done lots of research about Tibetan traditions and "Liu Zi Zhen Yan" which describes Tibetan Buddhists' beliefs. I searched the six characters of "Liu Zi Zhen Yan" in Tibetan and its corresponding symbolic images. As for the logo design, I combined some of the elements from the six characters of "Liu Zi Zhen Yan" with the Chinese character "饰" which means "jewelry". The pronunciation of "饰" is Shi which is the English name of this brand.

As for package design, I made three icons by combining different parts of the symbolic images. I drew them by pencils and markers as following images.

After that, I imported them in Illustrator to make patterns for decorating the jewlry box by combining with the logo.
